St Benedict's is a fantastic, sheltered housing developement for the elderly on Estuary Road in Malahide. It is jointly run by the St Vincent de Paul and Fingal County Council and comprises 45 units with a mix of one and two bedroom bungalows together with a community facility.
Malahide Lions is acutely aware of the loss of confidence and social isolation suffered by many elderly people as a result of Covid. Thankfully we are now back doing our monthly Coffee Mornings in St Benedicts. We have also set up a 6 week Arts and Crafts course, which is a great success. We hope to continue to expand the range of activities. We continually strive to cater for the interests and hobbies of the residents. St Benedicts is very open to inviting elderly members of the wider community in Malahide to join our Coffee Mornings and courses. We hope that in time this will add to the energy and vibrancy of the events.Phase 2 of the Society of St Vincent De Paul (SVP) St Benedict's Housing Scheme at Estuary Road, Malahide, County Dublin was officially opened by Eoghan Murphy TD, Minister for Housing, Planning & Local Government |
Bingo is back in Malahide
Monthly bingo sessions have resumed for the second year in the community facility at St. Benedict’s. These sessions are run by Malahide Lions Club for both the residents of St. Benedict’s and for elderly members of the wider community in Malahide who are welcome to attend. A great afternoon of bingo and fun is enjoyed by all the attendees and there are plenty of prizes for those lucky enough to fill their bingo cards. The bingo sessions continue the Club’s commitment to contribute to social activities which foster a sense of community for local residents. |
