WHO ARE THE ‘LIONS'?
Many men and women want to volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in their local communities and the third world. They often realise this goal through membership of Lions. With over 43,000 Clubs, Lions is the world's largest service organisation, having 1.4 million members in more than 180 countries. The association is both non-political and non-sectarian. Each Lions club comprises men and women, who come together to make a difference in their community. Since 1917 Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. Ireland has about 3,000 members in over 100 clubs. Lions membership is open to men and women who are passionate about performing local volunteer work to improve their community, and communities around the world. |
