For the last 30 years Lions clubs around the world have proudly sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art competition for children encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. J Dunne, 6th class at Pope John Pauls National School Malahide has taken the first steps to becoming an internationally recognised artist by winning a local competition sponsored by Malahide Lions Club. She is a pupil in Ms Millar’s class. Her poster was selected from a group of 81 peers in other national schools in Malahide. It was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme “Lead with Compassion”. Her poster has gone on to advance through district and international levels of the competition. Malahide Lions wish her the best of luck in the competition, results of competition by February 2023. Pope John Paul School was also presented with a certificate of participation by Club President Ms Ger Foran which was accepted by the vice principal Ms Byrne. J Dunne was presented with a certificate as contest club winner and a book token. Other winning students were: An Honourable Mention cert and book token was also presented to MG Mc Donnell from Pope John Pauls School for her beautiful poster as class winner. She is a student in Ms James class. A school participating cert was presented to teacher Diarmaid Eagney on behalf of St Oliver Plunkett’s school with An Honourable Mention cert and book token also presented to S Muldowney pupil in Mr Eagney’s class. A school participating cert was presented to teacher Rebecca Halpin on behalf of St Andrew’s school with an Honourable Mention cert and book token presented to A Harley, pupil in Ms. Halpin’s class. The judges were very complimentary of the artwork, thought and effort that went into each and every poster. Congratulations to all the winners! |
