CLUB BACKGROUND
Malahide Lions Club, which was sponsored by Howth Sutton Lions Club, was chartered in 1973 with 20 charter members. The membership has grown steadily over the years and remains steady in recent years. The Club has itself sponsored the Lions Clubs of Balbriggan, Swords, Wexford and Portmarnock. Like all Lions Clubs we engage in the wide field of standard service activities including Sight Conservation, Third World Services and support for Lions Clubs International Foundation. Local factors tend to direct the club's attention to the areas of Youth, Environmental, Educational, Social and Health Services. Many of our members have served in the Lions District (National) administration in various capacities and in some cases multiple times, including Zone Chairman, Deputy Governor, Region Chairman, District Governor, Youth Award Officer, Leo Clubs Chairman, Extension Officer, Nominations and Resolutions Officer and Insurance Advisor. We have hosted the District Convention (District 105-I) in 1988 and 1996. Liaison with the other Lions Clubs in the Zone viz. Balbriggan, Dublin, Portmarnock, Glasnevin, Howth-Sutton and Swords is ongoing. We strive to co-operate with other voluntary service groups and organisations." We meet twice a month in The Grand Hotel, Malahide, see calendar for dates. |
