30th June: Malahide Lions Club are delighted to make a donation to our local schools to provide Sensory Equipment for National Schools in Malahide. Our local schools urgently need essential equipment.  Without it our children with Autism, Dyslexia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia and ADHD are struggling to learn, communicate, socialise and feel included.
We aim to help to empower schools & parents to support children with sensory, learning or physical challenges so they feel welcomed to participate, learn, grow and develop in their community.
Sensational Kids provide the equipment and products.
Pictured on left are B Murray, Malahide LC; Caroline St Leger, Super Calm Sensory Products; Á McCabe Malahide LC and the driving force behind this initiative.

An eye gaze device is essentially a traditional tablet, however instead of using your hands or a mouse to navigate the screen, your eyes do the scrolling. Thanks to an inbuilt light sensor, the tablet monitors reflections from the pupils, tracking eye movements and converting them into mouse movements and co-ordinated commands. By looking anywhere on the screen, the user’s eye controls the cursor, while blinking performs a click. The accessibility of eye gaze technology is much the same as any off the shelf computer, so it can accommodate for more sophisticated demands such as right, double and left clicks, which gives the user much more freedom. When paired with appropriate software, the synthesised voice will iterate words and sentences based on the input of the user.

On 21st March Malahide Lions Club was delighted to present a cheque to Green Fingers Allotments in Malahide. This project offers a safe space for people to meet up who are experiencing life’s difficulties. Some beautiful veg and fruit are grown and taken home at the end of the day. Experience in fence mending, painting and general tiding is gained. Most important a cup of tea and a chat on a Friday or a sea swim for the brave is encouraged!
Cheque presented to Dr. Malcolm Garland to help defray costs.

The All-Weather Roy Barker III class lifeboat
The inshore D class lifeboat.
It is hard to believe that this Roy Barker III class lifeboat is over 20 years old. In that time it has completed so many rescue missions and saved so many lives.
