2019 Hill Walk.
This year's Hill Walk for St. Francis Hospice, our 21st, took us to Glendalough in the beautiful county of Wicklow on Sunday, April 28th. There were two walks planned, one two the Spink and one at a lower level. The weather on the day started off fairly damp, cleared up later but sadly not in time for the walkers on higher ground to enjoy the usual fine views to be had in that area. Refreshments were enjoyed afterwards in the Glendalough Hotel. It is hoped to raise about €5000 for St. Francis Hospice. Watch this space for details later. Photos by Damian, Dave, Barbara,Eleanor. Recommendations:
You should be in good health and used to walking. Wear suitable clothing ,warm socks and comfortable footwear (boots with ankle support preferably). Take account of the prevailing weather conditions and, if necessary, bring a change of clothing/footwear for the return journey. Sunblock may also be required (with a bit of luck!) Carry a backpack with liquid and a light lunch for one stop. The organisers will carry a first aid kit but it is advisable to carry a couple of plasters and blister pads.
