Lions Clubs Carers' Weekends

CARERS' WEEKENDS
Despite the difficulties posed by Covid we have managed to send 2 carers on weekend breaks. Both of these people found that the breaks gave them an invaluable opportunity to talk to others in the same situation, to have a rest and to ‘recharge the batteries’ to enable them to continue with their vital work.

The Lions Clubs Carers' Weekends are very necessary to family carers who look after family members 24/7. The effects on carers can be very stressful and many carers badly need respite from their caring roles. Carers suffering from stress or anxiety can avail of counselling.
The weekends address many of the problems carers may encounter. Carers are made feel at ease throughout the weekends where they mingle and get to know each other in a beautiful tranquil setting in Rosses Point Co. Sligo or Ballyvaloo Co. Wexford. Throughout the weekends, Carers discuss their situations in a relaxed environment and relate to each other. Many lasting friendships are made.

Funded by Lions Clubs
The Lions club's carers' weekend is a unique community project that greatly enhances the role of family carers throughout the country.
The weekends are fully funded by Lions clubs around the country and are hosted in Sligo and Wexford annually. Lions Clubs are making a difference by giving family carers the opportunity of respite from their caring roles they so badly need.
