Darkness Into Light In a short few weeks time, Malahide is hosting the annual Darkness Into Light event at Malahide Castle, 6th May. Malahide Lions Club is delighted to be able to help out in the organisation and running of this flagship event for Pieta, the National charity raising awareness and funds to provide free counselling and support services to those in crisis suffering from self-harm and suicide. Every community in Ireland has been affected by suicide and each year the walk provides an opportunity to bring hope to people who have been impacted by suicide.
To date, Malahide Darkness Into Light has raised over €945,000 to support counselling services for our friends, family and neighbours in crisis. This year we are asking Malahide to help us 'Make It A Million!' - just click on the image below.
The event is entirely organised by volunteers in the community and we need our local businesses to consider sponsoring and supporting the event to create an awareness of the free services Pieta provides and to raise vital funds to support those in need. If you would like to participate in this symbolic event, please follow the link to donate or take part. If you would like to support in another way, please reach out through our social media pages or through email malahide@darknessintolight.ie
The History of Darkness Into Light In 2009, in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, 400 people set off on the inaugural Darkness Into Light 5km walk to raise funds for Pieta. From small beginnings, the movement has continued to grow, and now there are over 150,000 participants in Darkness Into Light each year .......
