Hospice Walk 2025 .
This year's walk for St. Francis Hospice would infringe the Trade Descriptions Act if we called it a Hill Walk, because, in common with recent years, there's no hill involved, a development warmly welcomed by the participants!! Walk Report
Well, the weather gods were kind to us again yesterday. We had a lovely walk in a great location. (I can't wait for phase 2 of the Dublin Port Greenway to be completed). Thirty one walkers appeared on the day and all completed the trip without incident. A good number made it back to Malahide Cricket Club afterwards where refreshments were on hand thanks to The Marys (Flannery, Gleeson and McNamara) and also Maura Garvan. Some of the money has begun to flow in and the forecast looks good for us matching the €9,000 we gave to the Hospice last year, so fingers crossed. Those of you who are still collecting sponsorship can get it to me at 86, Sonesta or via Revolut at (086) 0612984. It can also be given to our treasurer, Mary Gleeson at 126, Biscayne or Revolut at (086)8249606. Please note that you will have to add us to your contacts for Revolut to work. I'll keep you informed of our progress and will send out a photo of the presentation when it occurs For photos of the day, Click here to view. See Panel on right for map
Walkers were covered by Lions Insurance for the day. |
Recommendations:
You should be in good health and used to walking. Wear suitable clothing, warm socks and comfortable footwear (boots with ankle support preferably). Take account of the prevailing weather conditions and dress accordingly. Sunblock may also be required (with a bit of luck!) Carry a backpack with liquid and a light lunch for one stop. The organisers will carry a first aid kit but it is advisable to carry a couple of plasters and blister pads. |
