Taking advantage of a recent spell of good weather our annual tennis tournament took place this year as planned on Sunday 28th June in the grass-courted grounds of the Grove Lawn Tennis Club. This event is held with the kind permission of the Chairman and Committee of the Tennis Club. 38 Tennis players from Malahide and further afield competed for the much coveted and hand-painted `Lions Plates'. Tennis got underway at 2.00 p.m. and was followed by the presentation of prizes by the Malahide Lions Club President, Alfie O'Dowd. A number of Lions and friends then joined us for a barbeque in the Club grounds, with musical entertainment provided by Kenny Grant. The event raised a substantial amount of money for Lions charities.
Pictured are President Alfie with runners-up in the tennis competition, Pat Scott and Frank McMahon, together with winners, Patricia Cullen and Ohan Yerganhersian. Also pictured are a group of people enjoying the barbecue after the tennis.
