Christmas get together 2016 It's not all work for members of our club. We try to get together once or twice during the year to relax, have a few "sherbets" and canapés and sing a few songs. If we're really lucky and get our timing right, Lion Noel Mitchell will be there with his keyboard and Lion Brian Dooley will bring his guitar. We have a few members who can (kinda) hold a tune and, even better, remember the words. Thanks to Malahide Yacht Club for their hospitality on this occasion.

St. Patrick's Day 2017 To celebrate the centenary year of Lions International, clubs from North Dublin were invited to take part in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Swords. Thankfully, the weather was kind and a good representation from Portmarnock, Howth-Sutton, Swords, Balbriggan and, of course, Malahide took part. Decked out in colourful t-shirts and other paraphernalia, we were very visible at the head of the parade. Thanks to Lion Tony McCarthy for the pictures. Click on any picture below for a larger image.
Handover 2018. On July 3rd club members and friends assembled at Malahide Yacht Club as President 2017-18 Mary McNamara handed over her chain of office to her successor for 2018-19 Damian Carberry. Prior to handing over the Chain of Office Mary presented Lions Tony McCarthy and Stephen MacDonagh with the Melvin Jones Fellowship awards. (see \club Awards section) Lion Brian Dooley on guitar rounded out the night assisted by a few of those present who could hold a tune. See below some pictures taken by our snapshot expert, Lion Tony Mc Carthy. Photos to follow.

Charter Dinner 2018
The 2018 Charter Dinner was attended by 43 members, guests, and friends from our Sponsor Club, Howth Sutton. We were honoured to have the District Governor, Frank O'Donoghue from Dublin Lions Club, and his wife Elaine, and Mayor of Fingal, Malahide's own Cllr. Anthony Lavin and his wife Tina present. Also present were Matthew Ryan Jr. of the Grand Hotel, and his wife Edel, and Mark Courtney, Manager of the Bank of Ireland, Malahide, and his partner Roxanne. Following a delicious four course meal District Governor Frank had a number of pleasant duties to perform. Firstly he inducted two new members, Vincent Nolan and Frank W. Smyth. Next, long service awards were presented to Tony McCarthy and Stephen MacDonagh (30 yr) and Joe McDonnell and Lion President Damian Carberry. Finally, Melvin Jones Fellowship Awards were presented to Alfie O'Dowd and Matthew Ryan Jr. .

Christmas Party 2018 It's usual for the club to have a small social occasion just before Christmas as the preceding weeks are hectic with the Senior Citizens Party and the Food Appeal and its aftermath. For the past couple of years we are grateful to Malahide Cricket Club for putting their clubhouse at our disposal. This year the usual suspects turned up and a very enjoyable night was had by all, helped along by a few jars, mince pies and music from the talented Brian Dooley and Fintan Keating.
