Sheilagh McGirl , President, 2009- 2010

Tuesday 7th July marked a very special day in the history of Malahide Lions Club. When the club meeting (held in Malahide Yacht Club) was completed, the Handover Ceremony commenced. What marked this one as very different was the fact that outgoing President Alfie was handing over to our first Lady President, Sheilagh McGirl.

The night, of course, was a great success. President Alfie spoke of the achievements of the Club over the last twelve months and expressed praise and appreciation for the work done by all members. He then formally passed the chain of office to incoming President Sheilagh who is the first Lady President in the history of the Club. She was warmly welcomed and applauded by all members and guests. President Sheilagh spoke of her aspirations for the coming year and expressed her wish to increase membership with a view to further revitalising the club. She thanked everyone for their support and good wishes. The ceremony was followed by a meal and entertainment by the members. A good night was had by all.
