Charter Dinner
34th Charter Anniversary, 12th October 2007

The 2007 CAD was marked in the time-honoured manner with golf in the afternoon and dinner in the evening. The venue, once again, was the very agreeable Malahide Golf Club.

In the evening after a great golf scramble, members, partners and guests sat down to a fine dinner. Distinguished guests included the 105I District Governor Pat Connolly from Galway with his wife Celia, and the Golf Club Captain Joe O’Neill. Our Club President Jimmy Brett was accompanied by his wife Catherine

As usual we had the support of a large contingent of Howth Sutton Lions including IPDG Gerry Langford, PDG Paddy O’Donnell, Zone Chairman Joe Smith, Club President Briege Barrett and several other distinguished members and their partners.

Portmarnock Lions Club was represented by Lion Bill Caffery and his wife Roisin.

In proposing the toast to Lions Clubs International, our President Jimmy Brett welcomed the DG and all the guests. He referred to recent successful projects and the acquisition of four excellent new members.

In his reply, the DG commended Malahide Lions for their many activities and exemplary membership growth. He stressed the importance of accepting the challenges presented by the social change through which Ireland was going, and of involving new members in projects as soon as possible.

A pleasant evening of musical entertainment ended the celebrations.
