7th Malahide Classic & Vintage Show 2018
Sunday 27th May 11.00 - 17.00
There might have been rain but there was also a bit of Hollywood magic in the air when a magnificently restored 1949 Packard Sedan, used in a movie starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, took pride of place at the 2018 Malahide Classic and Vintage Motor Show which took place on Sunday 27 May at Grand Hotel.
The car, owned by Declan Connolly, featured in the 2016 film “Florence Foster Jenkins” and in the hit TV series “Outlander” and was one of the main attractions at the Show which had 90 beautiful old cars on display.
This was the seventh running of the Show which now attracts car lovers and families from all across Dublin and Leinster and is well established on the classic car scene.
The public were asked to pay an admission fee at the gate with 100% donated to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association for their home nursing service.
Ireland’s foremost motoring historian Bob Montgomery was guest judge for the Car of the Show and runner-up awards. Jimmy O’Reilly was presented with the First Ireland Car of the Show trophy for his immaculate and original Hillman Imp and Malahide local Sarah Markey won Car of the Show Runner–up for her gorgeous and original 1991 Nissan Silvia. The car owners voted for their Dream Car which was won by Lar Purdue for his 1964 Mercedes 220S.
This year's show raised funds for the cost of providing home-nursing care by Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and other Lions causes.
